Synopsis:
The setting is a cold night on a sharecropper's farm in 1914.
A mute child grows up in a dark and violent homelife. To her life is
merely "what it is". But to us it is a look into a life that had no
voice. We are transmitted back in time to examine dark secrets,
deranged minds and deadly consequences. A time that has no
boundaries and the color of blood remains the same.

Character Descriptions:
(all African-American cast)
Sibby (age 8-12 Daughter of Elijah and Tess)
The protagonist, we see this story from her point of view.
She is a mute who is trapped in an abusive life.
Tess (20's, Elijah's wife, Sibby's ma, daughter of Cedric and Lydia)
Walks the line between doing what is right and obeying her husband, Elijah.
Not kind to Sibby but maintains her motherly instincts.
Elijah (Sibby's father, the antagonist/villian, age 30's)
He is at best a sociopath who quickly shifts into a psychopathic mode.
He is a drunk and goes over the deep end. He is the embodiment of evil.
Lydia (50-60's, grandma of Sibby and mother to Tess)
Faithful to her family, religiously earnest. She
is very loud and outspoken. She plays a supporting role.
Cedric (50-60's, grandpa of Sibby)
The only one in the family that shows kindness to Sibby. In his
supporting role, he is Sibby's oasis in the darkness.
