This listing includes:

An amazing, vintage, kitchen cupboard. The elderly man I purchased this from told me he was hired to help set up and work The World’s Fair in New Orleans in 1984. He picked up odd jobs on his days off. One of those odd jobs was helping with an apartment renovation in the French Quarter. This cupboard was part of the kitchen and sat between the countertop and ceiling. It was being thrown away so he asked if he could have it as a gift for his wife.

I have no idea what type of wood was used in its construction. At some point, before the renovation, it was crudely painted white on the outside but I believe the pale green inside the shelving on the lower portion is original. The amber-colored glass knobs are original. The arched cubby has a mirrored back that is original to the piece, showing signs of its age (the silver backing missing in multiple spots). I’ve carried it to every apartment and house I’ve lived in over the years even when I had no room for it. I hoped to someday build a small cottage and this would be the jewel of my kitchen. I wanted to sand the paint down, exposing more of the original wood color, and clean the paint off the hinges and glass knobs. I drew out more than a hundred floor plans for my tiny house on wheels, determined to finally give the piece the attention it deserves. There was just no way to do it and still get everything else I needed in 280 square feet. So … it needs a new home. The piece is heavy and in wonderful condition. It you’re planning to build a new home and want an extraordinary showpiece for your kitchen — this is it! The price reflects the beauty, uniqueness, and rarity of the piece ~ $580
